Stu is a former partner at PwC in the Finance & Cost Management practice where he built two ERP groups to support and measure the processes he implemented for his clients. Stu started his career in branch and private banking where he was responsible for the design of back-office solutions leading teams of accountants, HR, IT, bankers and traders. Stu continues to work on numerous clients across industries, using his visionary, leadership and financial skills to solve their most critical business issues.

Highlights

  • Following the 2008 financial crisis, Stu supported the reorganization of the financial services arm of a Fortune 5 client to make their accounting processes Fed-compliant, as they were being required to convert to a Bank Holding Company. Projects included changing the way they accounted for foreign currency with no impact to P&L; identifying and resolving a logic error for producing the Fed Y9C (FR-Y11 and FR-2314) Standalone Legal Entity reports due to some complex hedging transactions entered into by separate legal entities (including Net Investment, Cash Flow and Fair Value hedges involved in their Debt and Derivative programs); supporting client efforts to exit the Fed’s oversight by eliminating their SIFI designation.
  • Stu worked across various industrial and financial service businesses and their respective general ledgers (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Lawson, PeopleSoft, etc.) to develop a common chart of accounts across the entire enterprise. This project became the foundation for implementing new data governance models, thereby supporting data consistency and improving the analytical and business intelligence tools for financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Stu worked with a software company’s development team to make their ERP products truly a multi-org, multi-currency application for international clients.
  • With an Investment Bank client, Stu designed/configured a financial instrument profitability ledger to record gains and losses on transactions acquired in one currency/country and sold in another, and defined all elements of the data model and accounting keys to ensure proper profitability analytics and revenue assignment.
  • With a Global Consulting firm, Stu consolidated the financial processes and application systems from 40 countries into a single financial application environment (GL, FA, AP, Global Tax, Projects, AR) and data warehouse. The project ensured consistency and control under U.S. GAAP for their U.S.-based corporate accounting department while also maintaining local requirements for statutory reporting.
